Moffat County is a vast, remote region in northwestern Colorado where you can experience nature in unrestricted settings that have remained much as they were thousands of years ago.

Our spring, summer, and fall seasons are delightful, our winters offer pure fun - cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing, sledding, hockey, ice skating, and ice fishing, for starters. At day's end, the tales you tell will be your very own - unique memories to take home.

Craig, the county seat, is the economic center for the large area. In the summer, the area has warm summer days with cool nights, and winter brings moderate days with cold nights. Average annual precipitation is 14 inches.

Remember how simple life used to be? Remember when a "long drive" meant moving cattle into the high country, when "formal wear" meant taking your cowboy hat off, and when "espresso" meant mail delivered by Pony Express?

If you don't, maybe it's time to slow down and ride the trail less traveled. Moffat County has that simple life you've been hankerin' for.

Moffat County has over 1.7 million federally-managed (BLM) acres of expansive rolling sagebrush-covered hills, semi-arid mountain peaks, spectacular sandstone canyons, whitewater rivers, wide valleys, and colorful badlands that serve as host to all types of outdoor recreation. Big game viewing and hunting are the best in the nation.
